engive.
Sept 2000 The boat was stripped of all running gear, engine, prop, rudder,
basically any item that was attached to the boat.
The engine was sent out for
rebuild, all deck hardware was sent for rechroming, and the boat was turned upside
down so as to remove the bottom.
The bottom was removed, as to was the keelson, all
frame members were inspected for integrity, all where in excellent condition, so a
solid mahogany keelson was cut and fit and a new half inch, 5 ply mahogany bottom
was applied using 3M5200 adhesive, the boat was then turned right side up and the
deck removed.
Deck was replaced because, unlike most, this particular hull came with
a varnished deck as opposed to a painted surface, and any repair would have been too
obvious. 12 coats of Epithanes Varnish and lots of sanding, The freshened engine,
and hardware was installed then the boat was taken off to the upholstery shop for
new seats.
